Embracing Our Differences, in cooperation with Anything Arts, is looking for the best independent short films (25 seconds or less) promoting diversity and offering a powerful portrayal of how bigotry, racism and ignorance discourage a peaceful, healthy sense of community.

The top three films selected will be used as public service announcements (PSA’s) and broadcast throughout the Tampa/Sarasota/Bradenton media market (12th largest in the U.S.) during the month of April, 2008.

Films selected will be given cash awards of $1,000, $500 and $250.
  Entering its 5th year, more than 400,000 visitors have toured the Embracing Our Differences exhibit. Our mission is to use art as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice.

Embracing Our Differences is now seeking to harness the power of film to spread a message of respect and understanding to people across southwest Florida. In the face of hatred, inaction is interpreted as acceptance. Caring people in the community cannot simply shake their heads to themselves. They must act to support victims amd to speak up against intolerance.

The PSA competition is designed to encourage viewers to learn how they can become an upstander and "fight hate and promote diversity"in their homes, schools, workplaces and communities. 

Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence and its ability to convey the message in the above paragraph. Judging will be made by a panel of television and film executives.
