45 local public, private, and charter art teachers participated in Embracing Our Differences’ sixth annual Art Teacher Retreat at the Ringling Museum of Art. The program for this two-day retreat combined sessions on art creation and inspiration to how art changes the narrative and discussion in contemporary society. Presented in partnership with the Ringling College of Art and Design and the Curriculum and Instruction Department of the Sarasota County School District, the retreat was designed to reinvigorate educators’ teaching practices while inspiring their art and art integration skills.
During the 2017 World Rowing Championships, students from Sarasota and Manatee County schools were given the opportunity to play a role in something that is much bigger than themselves while learning the importance of being a good global citizen. Over the course of three days, 5,500 students received a FREE field trip to the event, observing the competitions, cheering on their "adopted" teams, having the opportunity to meet with participating athletes and viewing the Embracing Our Differences Rowing Art Exhibit.
